New Trail Features

The Tuesday night trail crew is in full swing. We have been busy improving the trail and technical trail features on the new trail named DLS.

NEMBA Tool Grant for Vietnam

Vietnam received a tool grant from NEMBA, along with matching funds from BVNEMBA to create a tool cache for the ongoing trail work in the Vietnam area. This greatly improves the logistics of getting tools to the job site. Thank you to all that participate in the Tuesday trail crew.

Subaru/IMBA Trail Care Crew Clinic at Vietnam

A special Vietnam trail care day is scheduled for Sunday, May 21st. The Subaru/IMBA Trail Crew will be in holding a trail building clinic on the NEMBA parcel. The clinic is a must for any volunteer interested in learning the science of trail design, trail construction and maintenance. Instruction will be led by NEMBA trail experts as well as the IMBA/Suburu Trail Care Crew. Registration information can be found at: http://www.nemba.org under “Register for NEMBA’s Trail School”

Real Estate Development at Vietnam

Fafard Real Estate and Development Corp. has presented its plan to the town of Milford for the Village at Kings Way off route 16 just north of the power lines. The plan is to build a cluster development of 120 unit/ 30 building on 20 acres of the 116-acre parcel. The 96-acre northwestern half of the parcel will remain conservation restricted open space. This is the half closer to the NEMBA Vietnam parcel and preserves the contiguous nature of the Upper Charles Headwaters Area. The Brooklyn Bridge and Kitchen riding areas in the proposed open space. What is lost is the access and area near the old AAC entrance off rte 16. The doubletrack leading from the AAC entrance along with singletrack trails on each side will be lost. This development is still in the planning stages, but overall is a good compromise between development and conservation.
