Listed below are directions to some of the riding places within Blackstone Valley NEMBA's area:

Hodges Village , Oxford, MA

Hodges Village — Main Dam

Hodges Dam from anywhere via the Masss Turnpike:

  • Mass Pike to Exit 10, (Auburn/Worcester, Rtes 395, 12, 290).
  • Stay Left after Toll, for 290, 20E, 395 "Worcester".
  • Stay right on the ramp, and get on 395 South.
  • Take Exit 4B on I-395 to Oxford.
  • Go through Oxford Center (across Rt 12) and continue straight for one-half mile to Howarth Road. Turn right and follow to the dam.

Hodges Dam From Worcester and points North:

  • Route 290 becomes Route 395 (just beyond the the MA Turnpike exit)
  • Take Exit 4B, Sutton Avenue, toward Oxford
  • Continue straight, through traffic light across Route 12
  • Proceed one-half mile, turning right onto Howarth Road which leads to the dam.

Hodges Dam from points South:

  • Take Route 395 North
  • Take Exit 4B, Sutton Avenue, toward Oxford
  • Continue straight, through traffic light across Route 12
  • Proceed one-half mile, turning right onto Howarth Road which leads to the dam.

Hodges Village — Greenbriar Park

Greenbrier Recreation area in Oxford:

  • Mass Pike to Exit 10, (Auburn/Worcester, Rtes 395, 12, 290).
  • Stay Left after Toll, for 290, 20E, 395 "Worcester".
  • Stay right on the ramp, and get on 395 South.
  • Take the first exit (Exit 5) for Depot Rd., then head right towards Oxford.
  • Follow Depot Rd. until end, approx. 1 mile. (Note: Depot Rd. has an unusual "stay right" then quick left. Be careful.)
  • At end of Road is a light (Rte. 12).  Right turn then quick left into "Greenbrier Recreation Area". (Tennis courts, skateboard park).

Hodges Village — Multi–Use Parking

  • Mass Pike to Exit 10, (Auburn/Worcester, Rtes 395, 12, 290)
  • Stay Left after Toll, for 290, 20E, 395 "Worcester"
  • Stay right on the ramp, and get on 395 South
  • Take the first exit (Exit 5) for Depot Rd., then head right towards Oxford
  • Follow Depot Rd. until end, approx. 1 mile. (Note: Depot Rd. has an unusual "stay right" then quick left. Be careful.)
  • At end of road ia a light (Rte. 12). Turn right onto Rte. 12. Approximately 1/2 mile up make a left on to Clara Barton Rd.
  • Cross the bridge and stay left at the first fork, follow this road toward Lane Quarries and look for the parking area on the right.

Upton State Forest

Meet at the main parking lot off Westboro Road in Upton.

From 495:

  • Take exit 21B and go West on Main Street.
  • Follow Main Street for about 3 miles. 
  • After crossing under the power lines and seeing a pond on your left, take a SHARP right up a hill onto Westborough Road. 
  • Upton State Forest is on the Right in about 2 miles, at the intersection of Southboro road. 
  • Go back to the main parking lot, about 1/4 mile down the dirt road.

From Westboro Center: 

  • Take 135 East (which actually goes South at that point) for 1 mile, then follow the "straight" fork onto Upton Road. 
  • The park entrance is about 3 miles on the Left at the corner of Southboro Road. 
  • Go back to the main parking lot, about 1/4 mile down the dirt road.

Callahan State Park

We'll start at the new parking lot on Edmands Road in the center of the Park.

From Rt. 9 west in Framingham:

  • Bear right at the the Trolley square offramp Rt 30 Southboro.
  • Right at the first light on to Edgell Rd.
  • Travel approx. 0.5 miles and take a left on to Belknap Rd.
  • Take the first Right onto Grove Street.
  • Follow Grove until it ends or merges with Edmands and go Left on Edmands.
  • The parking lot is approx. 0.75 miles down on the left about 1/4 mile after the "covered bridge barn.".

From Rt. 9 east in Southboro:

  • About 1/2 mile before the Pike entrance and the Bose HQ, take the big off-ramp on the right where there are signs for Route 30. 
  • Cross over Route 9, take a left and then a right onto 30 East.
  • After about 3/4 mile, take a left onto Pine Hill Road.
  • Follow Pine Hill for about 2 miles until it ends, then take a Right onto Parmenter Road.
  • Go about 1/2 mile, and look for a small house on the right which is the new Park HQ.  (At the Framingham town line, Parmenter changes names and becomes Edmands Road.)
  • The next driveway on the right is the parking lot. 

From MA Turnpike:

  • Take Exit #12 (Rt 9 Framingham)
  • Bear left after the tolls to get on Rt 9 West (You'll go past a big Sheraton Tara that looks like a castle.)
  • Get in left lane.
  • Immediately after the first light, exit left to get on Rt 30.  (Tin Alley Restaurant).
  • Go Straight thru the 2nd light (Crossing Blvd / Genzyme) and turn right at the third light.  You'll now be on Rt 30 East.
  • After about 3/4 mile, take left onto Pine Hill Road.
  • Follow Pine Hill for about 2 miles until it ends, then take a Right onto Parmenter Road.
  • Go about 1/2 mile, and look for a small house on the right which is the new Park HQ.  (At the Framingham town line, Parmenter changes names and becomes Edmands Road.)
  • The next driveway on the right is the parking lot. 

Franklin State Forest

We'll park at the Franklin YMCA.

  • Rt 495 exit 17, route 140 exit, towards Bellingham (away from Franklin downtown).
  • At first light, take left into Forge Hill Industrial Park, (across from BJ's).
  • Proceed up hill 0.8 miles, go left and follow signs to Franklin YMCA.
  • Park way over under power lines, away from the YMCA building.

Wrentham State Forest

  • Rt 495 exit 14, Route 1 south to first light.
  • Sharp right at first light, across from route 152.
  • Proceed 0.8 miles, back up over Rt 495, see Wrentham S.F. sign, parking lot on left.

Plummer's Corner/Blackstone Canal/West Hill Dam, Northbridge

Plummer's Corner/Blackstone Canal/West Hill Dam via Rt 495

  • Mass pike to exit 11A (Rt 495 South).
  • Take 495 South 1 exit to exit 21B (W. Main St Upton).
  • Take W. Main St approx 5 miles until traffic light with church and 2 gas stations on corner.
  • Go straight through intersection for approximately 3/4 mile to next light and make a right.
  • Go about 2 1/2 miles and make a right on Church St.
  • Go a few hundred yard (across bridge) and make a left into parking lot.  (If you hit Osterman Propane Company, you went too far.)

Plummer's Corner/Blackstone Canal/West Hill Dam via Rt 122

  • If you're going Rt 122 South, take left at Plummers Corner in Northbridge (intersection at shopping mall with Ocean State Job Lot, Radio Shack, etc.) onto Church St.
  • Go past Osterman Propane and make a right into small parking lot.  If you come to a T intersection, you went too far.

Bolton/Harvard Conservation Area

  • Rt. 495N to exit 27 Bolton
  • Rt 117 west
  • Follow Rt 117 thru Bolton center approx. 2 miles to lights at intersection with Rt 110
  • Right on to Rt 110  for approx. 1 mile to Bolton Flats Wildlife Management Area on left
  • Look for a large red barn at the parking lot.

Vietnam, Milford

    From the south:

  • Take Rte 495 North to Exit 20 ( Milford / Rte 85 exit).
  • Take a left at the exit ramp traffic lights onto Rte 85.
  • At the next traffic light (Wendy's is on the corner), take a right onto Dilla St.
  • Follow Dilla St to the bike trail sign.
  • The Louisa Lake parking area is on your right.
  • From the north:

  • Take Rte 495 South to Exit 20 ( Milford / Rte 85 exit).
  • Bear right off the exit ramp onto Rte 85.
  • From this point, follow directions “From the South”
  • From the east/west:

  • Take the Mass Pike to the Rte 495 exit.
  • After the toll booths, bear to the right – Rte 495 South Milford / Cape Cod.
  • Take Rte 495 South to Exit 20 ( Milford / Rte 85 exit).
  • Take a right at the exit ramp traffic lights onto Rte 85.
  • From this point, follow directions “From the South”.
  • This parking area is roughly the midpoint of the Trail. From this access point, the trail proceeds north towards Hopkinton to just beyond the Rte 495/Rte 85 overpass.

Rayburn Trails (power lines parking), Millbury

  • Power lines on Rayburn Dr, Millbury.
  • Rayburn Dr is off of Carousel Drive, which is off Grafton St., east of downtown Millbury. There are too many different ways to get here to give simple directions. You would be best to get your own from Mapquest.

Rayburn Trails (Buck Brothers parking), Millbury

From the Mass Pike

  • Take Exit 11, after the tolls turn RIGHT at the light onto Route 122.
  • After a half mile turn RIGHT onto Brigham Hill Road.
  • At the first stop sign turn RIGHT onto Deernolm Street.
  • After going under the Pike, Deernolm Street turns into Riverlin Street.
  • Continue on Riverlin for 1.9 miles.
  • Turn LEFT onto Brightside Street.
  • The parking lot is the second one on the left in front of Buck Bros. The first one is chained off sometimes.

From Rt 146 North

  • Take the W Main Street / Millbury exit.
  • Turn RIGHT at the bottom of the ramp towards Millbury center.
  • Turn LEFT onto Canal right after the CVS.
  • At the light turn LEFT onto Riverlin Street.
  • After a half mile turn RIGHT onto Brightside Street.
  • The parking lot is the second one on the left in front of Buck Bros. The first one is chained off sometimes.

From Rt 146 North

  • Take the W Main Street / Millbury exit.
  • Turn LEFT at the bottom of the ramp towards Millbury center.
  • Turn LEFT onto Canal right after the CVS.
  • At the light turn LEFT onto Riverlin Street.
  • After a half mile turn RIGHT onto Brightside Street.
  • The parking lot is the second one on the left in front of Buck Bros. The first one is chained off sometimes.

Singletary Trails - Millbury, MA


From Rte 146 North or South
  • Take "West Main St., West Millbury exit". (This is about 1.5 miles south of MA Pike exit 10A).
  • If coming from the North - after the stop sign at the bottom of the ramp, proceed straight across the first intersection, then right onto West Main St.
  • If coming from the South - at the light at the bottom of the ramp, turn left going beneath Rte 146. Then stay left at the fork on West Main St.
  • From Rte 146, your destination is about 1.5 miles on West Main St. On the way there will be a fork in the road at Royal Pizza. Stay to the right, continuing on West Main St.
  • Parking will be on the left at the lower parking lot next to the fire house, (about 1/3 mile from the last fork).

Whitehall Reservoir - Hopkinton, MA

  • Route 495 to West Main Street Hopkinton Exit
  • Follow West Main Street to Route 135
  • Take a sharp left turn follow Route 135 to boat ramp on left

College Rock - Hopkinton, MA

  • Rt 495 to exit #20 (Rt 85/Milford)
  • Take Rt 85 north toward Hopkinton approximately 2 miles
  • Turn right on College St (I believe it’s the 1st right turn)
  • Approximately ¼ to ½ mile on right is a small parking lot

Ashland State Park - Ashland, MA

  • From North or South: Rte. 495 to "Main Street" Hopkinton exit
  • Continue east on Main Street
  • Before Hopkinton Center Rt. 135 comes in on the left, follow Rt. 135 east approx. 3 miles to park Entrance on the right.
